    • My guess for the fabric is hand woven silk dupioni. Which might make another interesting connection. Today, one of the major manufacturers of this fabric is in India- do any of you know, was this the case in the early 1960s as well?

  1. I like this hat and the dress and colour are gorgeous. I don’t recall ever seeing this hat before. Lovely.

  2. Very nice..the dress is outstanding and I like the hat..fashionable for the time..it is a wee bit more fitting than the ones in the present wardrobe ..well done.

  3. This is such a fabulous colour for Pakistan, it looks so beautiful against the bright reds and pinks worn by the ladies in the country. The cut of the dress is really stunning, keeping that plain silhouette she really leant into over the 60s, but with pleats giving depth and shape. The hat provides the fuss, but it’s the least interesting part of the outfit for me.

    • I love the way QEII is examining the fabrics – I have read that wherever QEII travelled her dresser would be out looking for fabrics to take home for future outfits. What I’d give to take a look at the fabric stash.
