The Dutch royal family celebrated the King’s birthday in Maastricht on Wednesday with a day of events attended by crowds not seen in several years!
For this event, Queen Máxima wore a new hat. The muted pink wide brimmed design features a flat crown and is simply trimmed with a slim hatband.

I like the pairing of the muted pink hat with more vibrant dress and the scale of the hat works well with the the dress’ caped bodice.

I love this so much! It’s a fabulous hat with the drama we know Máx can really get away with, it’s so flattering on her. The mix of colours works so well, it’s really balanced with that bright pink being the star of the show. I also love the hits of coordination with the family, those pops of bright pink and green really making them look like a very unified ensemble.
This style of hat suits Queen Max beautifully. Her whole ensemble is divine.
I adore this hat and whole ensemble! It suits Máxima perfectly and this will go down as one of my favorite looks ever for her as a whole. The braided straw hat (whether it’s hemp or toyo remains to be determined) can go casual to formal depending on the rest of the outfit. And while I usually like bold outfits, all the subdued details this time really pulled everything together rather harmoniously. Brava!

I just love this hat. The colour, fabric and style are fabulous for Queen Maxima on this happy occasion.
That is her style of hat. Nice.
I like the hat very much – the fabric looks beautifully soft and I want to reach out and touch it. I like the delicacy of the colour as well. Looking at the pictures more closely I realise what’s been nagging at me about this outfit as a whole and that’s the huge disparity between the length of the dress and the cape. I’d like to have seen at least six inches taken off the cape. I’d really have preferred the hat to be allowed to do all the talking especially as it’s a new piece.
Max really likes those big statement hats – so do I! The beautiful sun hat and her million dollar smile add up to a great King’s birthday bash!
