I’ve come to appreciate this ensemble, acid green and all! If my memory is correct, today’s hat was discussed a couple of years ago. Jake (with his love for green) and I lamented the trimming down of the brim from 2002. Now looking at it, I’m not so sure that it was altered. VERY difficult to tell, judging from the angles of the photos. Are there any other outings with different photos that would support/negate this theory?

Sure you are right Jimbo – it definitely looks like a trimmer brim in 2004. I love the hat either way but not sure this chartreuse head to toe is the best on HM – probably why weve not seen more of it (the sheen on the satin trim is gorgeous, but its rather flat in the suit).
That brim has definitely had a haircut. They persuaded her to try wider brims, and they were so flattering, but every time she sends them back for a snip!
I completely forgot about the brim trim on this design! I think I prefer the smaller version this time. It feels a bit more refined.
love
I like the combination of textures
Another lovely one – Philip Somerville made some really lovely hats for HM. Love the brim size and the stylised bow. The longer jacket is really flattering too.
An absolutely stunning hat on Her Majesty. The colour is amazing, with the silk bow picking up the dress underneath. Gorgeous.
And how wonderful that Her Majesty was able to attend the opening of the Elizabeth Line in London yesterday.
Nice outfit ..I like the length of the coat and dress.
The hat seems a bit too large in general but it works.
