Platinum Jubilee Countdown: 2

The Queen stood out in a crowd even more than usual when wearing this vibrant magenta purple hat with domed crown trimmed with a pair of large red feathers by Rachel Trevor Morgan to events from 2014 to 2018.

  1. A few years ago, my sister got me a Funko Pop figurine of QE2 (with bonus corgi), and this is the hat and coat it is wearing. (I also got Funko Pops of Kate and Diana.)

  2. So very different from the lavender featured yesterday, and yet I love them both in different ways. The color blocking and graphic use of the two feathers is so sharp! This week has really been the Greatest Hits of the 21st Century (so far). Can’t wait to see what you’ve selected for the grand finale tomorrow, HQ.

Are the bookmakers running odds on what color she’ll wear for the festivities? I hope it’s a spiffing new RTM creation!

  3. Another great look on a great lady!
JamesB, do you remember this harlequin frock?

  4. I adore this striking hat on the Queen. Those colours! Those feathers!

Altho I have enjoyed this countdown immensely, it’s also making me a little sad noticing how hale and hearty Her Majesty looked just a few years ago.

  5. Yes, totally agree. Her Majesty carries off these bold colour combinations very well. A very stylish, vibrant hat.

  6. This is such a beauty and it’s a colour combination I love. The sharpness of the red just adds that little something. I’m looking forward to the last in the series but will be so sorry when this series ends.

  7. I’m as fascinated by the Queen’s jewelry as I am by her hats. Can someone tell me about that fabulous brooch she wrote in Dec. 2018? It looks like a bow with flowers of diamonds and rubies?

  8. I love this look and agree with JamesB about the panache with which HM carries it off. I particularly like the ensemble with the Grima brooch.

  9. It just makes me laugh that at 90 she’s going, ‘Magenta and red with a harlequin frock? Bring it on!’
This is a bold look women half her age wouldn’t attempt, but she nailed it. Excellent styling, this was such a fantastic look.
