Members of the British royal family attended a Service of Thanksgiving celebrating the life of The Lady Elizabeth Shakerley CVO (also known as Lady Elizabeth Anson). Born at Windsor Castle to Thomas Anson, Viscount Anson (1913โ1958), and his wife, Anne Bowes-Lyon, Lady Elizabeth was a grand-niece of the late Queen Mother and cousin to the current queen. She passed away in November 1, 2020 at the age of 79.
The Countess of Wessex repeated her black fur felt pillbox trimmed with a sweeping embroidered feather applique.

The Duchess of Gloucester (shown in the second photo in the gallery below) repeated her new black sinamay hat with wide, upturned pleated brim trimmed with a slim double hatband.

Princess Alexandra wore a new hat in crisp navy and ivory straw. The domed navy crown sits atop an ivory crown sideband and brim with a wide navy hatband to create a blocks of graphic contrast. The hat is wrapped in navy net veil.
Designer: likely Rachel Trevor Morgan.
Previously Worn: I believe this hat is new
Princess Michael of Kent wore a grey felt angular brimless hat – let’s call it a beret variation – paired with a looped lilac bow in the back of her hair.

Lady Gabriella Kingston wore a wide brimmed hat in pale blue sinamay. The sloped crown shape is mirrored in the design’s sidesweeping brim and the hat is beautifully trimmed with a wide hatband, pleated fan bow and silk flowers.

The Duchess of York wore a padded black velvet headband
While Princess Beatrix did not wear a hat to this event, it’s worth noting her friendship with Lady Elizabeth, who was one of the bridesmaids at her wedding! Lady Sarah Chatto and Lady Helen Taylor also attended, although not in hats.

An odd inconsistency of who I thought would be wearing hats.
This hat was certainly the wrong choice for the time of year and also to go with this outfit for Sophie. While we’ve already seen this black hat and it’s teal twin many times, this may be the best overall look with these hats thus far; brava Birgitte!
I kinda thought this was a repeat for Alexandra, but apparently not; it’s a nice enough look for her, but I find the netting on the hat messy. Nice to see Zenouska in attendance with her grandmother, although a bit disappointed she didn’t wear a hat.
I want to be excited for a new hat on Marie-Christine, but the hat is brought down by her rather dowdy-looking outfit unfortunately. Gabriella though looked quite radiant in this pale sky blue portrait hat.
While the simple bandeau on Sarah isn’t exciting, her overall look was very nice and worked well for this event. I was rather surprised to see Beatrix sans hat, but even so she still looked good.
I agree with Beth that Sophieโs hat feels too heavy for summer.
Princess Alexandra looks fabulous, but Iโd prefer it without the veil to emphasize the sharp graphic look of the band.
Lady Gabriellaโs hat is lovely, but very familiar. She has worn such similar designs that itโs hard to distinguish this a s new.
Surprised at the number of those going hatless, but of course the important thing is that they are there.
I think Lady Gabriellaโs hat is wonderful and would have looked perfect with a more summery frock. I donโt like its current combination with the dark blue military vibes dress.
I love this new ivory and navy hat for Princess Alexandra. Just right in shape and size and the veiling adds a little bit of extra softness. It’s lovely with her navy polka dot suit.
Lady Gabriella’s pale blue hat is gorgeous. I love it. I think Lady Elizabeth would have liked it.
And The Duchess of Gloucester looks lovely in her black sinamay hat with this soft floral dress.
I sense an Ascot fatigue
Alexandra looked outstanding, I love the navy and ivory combination. Always elegant and down right beautiful.
Princess Alexandra looked divine, I loved her hat.
Princess Alexandra, once again, outshines everyone with her classic elegance.
Itโs the scale of Lady Gabriellaโs hat that bothers me. Too top heavy.
Sophieโs hat and dress? No to a fur hat in June and the dress, which looks very heavy, needs a fitting.
I feel as though the D of G is wearing the same hat each time I have seen photos over the last week of so, and I donโt find a navy hat very flattering on a woman with such nice skin tone and eye color.
