King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands attended an annual wreath-laying ceremony on national Remembrance Day held yesterday at the National Monument in Amsterdam.
Queen Máxima repeated a streamlined black felt beret with knotted applique trim on the side. The placement, on the back of her head to frame her face, is wonderfully elegant. The coat and hat are both restrained in design and as such, pair very well together.

I agree with Mitten Mary, except I prefer this hat with Máxima’s hair down. 😉
This is a great hat for a serious occasion. The trim is just right to give it some interest without making it too festive. I prefer it when Max wears it with her hair up rather than loose as we saw at the DoE memorial.
