She repeated this hat yesterday back in the Netherlands where she  baptized two ships of the Royal Wagenborg shipping company in Delfzijl. It’s a super chic look!

  1. Yay for more hats!

Mathilde: Not my favorite hat for her, but this unexpected patterned dress really makes that burgundy pillbox pop and overall it was a fun look!

Camilla: Is this pink ensemble her French look? 😅 In seriousness though, this shade of pink is lovely on her, but I’m not sold on the trim.

Denmark: Mary is looking fabulous in this 20-year-old hat, and it still looks just as good (if not better) than when it premiered. I had forgotten this huge hat for Margrethe and it’s fun to see her wearing it again, while Benedikte looks so classically elegant in this portrait hat.

D-Day: I like the overall look of this navy blue ensemble for Máxima, but the quality of this hat is questionable in a way that I was certain it was a Delvigne hat at first. Mathilde and Camilla both looked fine, but nothing to rave about.

Westminster Wedding: I was rather underwhelmed by the chapeaux at this wedding, although I did enjoy the Dowager Duchess’ pink shades fascinator.

Dutch Visit to USA: Máxima looked gorgeous in this red fascinator and the way she wore it this time improved on its premiere (which was still a success IMO). The other two left me disappointed, although not surprised at their smaller size and profile; isn’t the green one a twin to a brown hat she wore some years ago which I believe was broken up to create a new headpiece she wore again in the last month? (Sorry, I’m traveling and only have my phone, making searching for the previous hat much more difficult.)

    • Yes, Máxima’s green calot is a twin to a warm brown one already in her wardrobe. Josine Droogendijk, author of the wonderful “Mode Koningen Maxima” blog confirmed that Jolanda, Maxima’s dresser/maid, completed a millinery course with Dutch milliner Berry Rutjes and has started making hats for her. While I understand the practicality of this, I’m disappointed they haven’t employed some of many talented and experienced Dutch milliners.

  2. I am bit surprised at the size of the hats the ladies wore to 175th anniversary of the first Danish Constitution service. I do not think of big hats when I think of the Danish Royals. Queen Maxima brought a nice variety of hats to her US trip. She looked so chic and fashionable and not a bit out place as the only hat wearer.
