Hat From the Past

Royal Hats 34 years ago this month to a radiant Princess of Wales (expecting Prince Harry) in a smart cream and navy felt hat with upsweep and veil trim. I’m not sure about the sharply upswept mini brim- adorable, yes, but does it work in this scale?

Hat From the Past

Royal Hats 35 years ago today to a young princess in a bright pink silk covered brimless hat made by John Boyd. Worn on Diana’s first trip to Australia, I’ve always loved the ruffle flower trim.

Hat From the Past

Royal Hats to this day in 1991 and a visit to Wales. Princess Diana’s royal blue Breton hat with black velvet and gold braid trim, with bow at the back, makes quite a statement of fashion of this era.

Hat From the Past

Royal Hats to this day in 1985 and the arrival of Diana, Princess of Wales at East Midlands airport for a visit to Derby in a camel felt hat with upfolded brim edged in silk velvet with a bow at the back. The hat comes from a period in her millinery which saw her experiment more with larger scale pieces of various shapes.

Hat From the Past

Royal Hatsthirty-five years ago to this day in 1982 when a young Princess of Wales visited Wales in a small blue felt tricorn hat with raised Breton brim, veil wrap and ostrich feather at the back. The unique hat shape was a go-to one for her in the early 1980s during the first years of her royal life.
