Queen Margrethe Attends Frue Kirke

Queen Margrethe attended a church service at Frue Kirke to mark the 70th anniversary of the death of Danish playwright and Lutheran pastor Kaj Munk (who was an important figure during the German occupation of Denmark in WWII). Margrethe repeated her oxblood red pillbox hat with black patent leather trim.

Queen Margrethe Attends Mandela Memorial

Queen Margrethe of Denmark attended a memorial service for the late Nelson Mandela held at the Vor Frue Kirke in Copenhagen yesterday. For this service,  Margrethe wore what I believe is a new hat – a black Karakul fur toque with feather pouf that coordinated with her coat.  It is a new hat shape for Margrethe and while I’m still not entirely a fan of the toque, I think it’s a surprisingly good hat shape on her. What do you think?

Danish Royals Go Hunting

Queen Margrethe, Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim kicked off the Royal Hunt at Grib Skov yesterday. Queen Margrethe wore a Rapunzel headscarf while Prince Henrik wore a tweed newsboy cap (if you can look past his red socks to notice his hat). Prince Joachim was the only non-crazy dressed one of the bunch in a wintery wool fedora.  Don’t they all look like they are costumed for the reenactment of a Norse folk tale?! You can see a short video of this event on the Danish Royal website.

Danish Queen in Iceland

Queen Margrethe of Denmark is visiting Iceland this week. For the second day of this visit yesterday, she debuted a new hat. This hat, in scarlet wool felt, was trimmed with a tweed and black fabric band around the crown and wide tweed edging around the brim (this tweed fabric was the same fabric as her skirt and the collar of her jacket). It is quite a bold hat and I think I would like it without the tweed edging on the brim. What do you think?
