Queen Beatrix, Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima of the Netherlands have arrived in Brunei for a two-day state visit. For their arrival, Queen Beatrix wore a new dove grey straw hat in her signature shape (large round hat with completely flat crown). This one had a double raised brim and a large flower on the side.I usually like Beatrix in hats that are brighter colours but the dove grey made her face shine and perfectly complimented her bright magenta dress.
Máxima repeated the blush pink straw ruched turban she last wore in April 2011 for William and Kate’s wedding. While the colour was a little washed out, it was a great backdrop for those STUNNING emeralds!
The first day also included a boat tour and museum visit – and a costume change! Queen Beatrix wore a pink repeated hat (again in her signature shape) with a large brim and stylized bow.
Máxima wore a HUGE natural straw hat with upturned brim (the same one she wore on July 2, 2011 for the wedding of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco). It was spectacular.

Wow. All of these hats are amazing. Maxima’s pink turban is a little odd but with that green dress, it’s amazing. Thanks for posting this! I had no idea they were in Borneo.
These certainly are a quartet of striking hats, aren’t they?!
