The Queen at West Newton Church

This morning, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip attended West Newton Church near their Sandringham estate. The Queen wore this royal purple wool homberg hat designed by Rachel Trevor Morgan (which she also wore to the opening of the Jubilee Gardens last October and to a Remembrance Service In November 2009).

The first few times I saw this hat, I loved the colour but was not sure about the shape of the crown (a classic Homberg style). After seeing it a few times, the shape grown on me – there’s something about the jaunty brim and square crown that seems fun and modern.
