Princess Annette of Orange-Nassau (née Annette Sekrève) is celebrating her 41st birthday today. This is the first time we’ve seen her here on the Royal Hats Blog; Annette is married to Prince Bernhard, the second son of Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Peter van Vollenhoven. Bernhard and Annette have “real jobs” and keep a very low profile in Amsterdam where they and their three children live. We see them occasionally at the major Dutch royal family events- weddings, christenings, Queen’s Day etc and they will certainly be present on April 30 for the inauguration of the new and queen.
One of my favourite hats worn by Princess Annette was this black Garbo hat with relaxed brim and side spray of flowers she wore back in November 2005 for the christening of Princess Alexia. There is just something so effortlessly glamorous about this hat on her. Isn’t that how all hats should be?

Lovely, lovely, lovely. And again, I say, Lovely! What a perfect hat shape on this beautiful princess. I grant this hat 8/10 because of the frazzled side feather adornment, which would have been best omitted. But never mind, this small error in style does not take away from this otherwise lovely hat.
It seems everyone loves this hat. Sorry, but I don’t like the wavy brim. It looks like a farm hat.
don’t like the wierd feather poof on the side. looks like creepy claws.
I usually don’t like royal hats with floppy brims. This one is beautiful.
Yes, this one is very flattering. The floppy brim hats don’t usually look so good.
She is so pretty and this hat is gorgous on her
She looks stunning
That is how to do a stylish black hat
I can’t believe that was 7 years ago. That’s what a classic hat will do- still look great 7 years later.
That hat is fierce.
Never seen or heard of her before. LOVE LOVE LOVE her hat.
Most ravishing!
