Princess Michael of Kent Proves Philip Treacy Wrong

Princess Michael of Kent attending the wedding of Peregrine Hood and Serena Nikkhah in Wiltshire on Saturday. She wore this fabulous twisted bow fascinator with large-weave net veil for the occasion. It’s a rather bold piece of millinery but once again, Marie-Christine manages to pull it off. I suspect this fascinator was made by Philip Treacy which amuses me to no end since he announced the “death of the fascinator” earlier this year. It seems that the wearing of fascinators is still going strong, sir….

Update: This is indeed a Philip Treacy design and appeared as part of his Spring Summer 2014 Collection.

  1. While one hopes that the use of the fascinator is a practice that will fade, one cannot argue that this example of this common millinery is most elegant and lovely on this Princess. 6/10

  2. This is the best of the veiled fascinators. What makes it good in the _absence_ of the black beads. A veil sprinkled with black beads is akin to so-called ‘beauty spots’ on the face.

  3. And how do we feel about fascinators? I admit they aren’t my favorite, and some of the really large ones from early days were truly bizarre. It always looks to me like someone who is required to wear a hat, but doesn’t want to.
