Infanta Cristina of Spain celebrates her forty-eighth birthday today. If you follow royal news, you’ll know that Cristina and her husband are embroiled at the center of a major scandal and as such, have kept an even lower public profile than ever. No matter- when I think of Cristina’s millinery history, there is one hat that stands out above all others. It is this magnificent straw picture hat in gold straw she wore to her brother’s wedding in 2004. Breathtaking.

This is wonderful, and I went looking for a full length pic and was not disappointed. I love the colour combination. I was also struck by the similarity of the lace to Eva O’Neill’s choice this week.
I ADORE this hat! Beau! Now this is a hat. Let’s leave all those fascinators behind.
I do to. It is so creative without compromising its beauty. The soft waves of the brim are just beautiful and very flattering.
Sublime perfection. This hat is glamorous without moving into the realm of rediculousness, with a beautifully relaxed brim, perfect side embellishment and unexpected but very elegant color. 10/10
That’s a hot mustard mess.
Its so nice for a change to see a hat decorated with leaves (woven from straw) than the so-typical foofed up bird feathers. This hat is both elegant and visually relaxing.
Her top looks similar to Chris O’Neill’s mother at his wedding to Princess Madeleine the other day…?
The lace is very similar. While I love this hat, I’ve never been sure about the grey lace coat with the chartreuse dress underneath.
Wow! That’s quite a hat. I’m not so keen on the mustard yellow and grey combo but the hat makes quite a statement,.
I remember this hat! So unusual and yet so elegant and beautiful.
