Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik of Denmark started the second leg of their annual Summer cruise yesterday with a visit to Skagen. Queen Margrethe toured a number of historical and cultural sites before visiting Skagen Church where she added the last stitch of the church’s new altar cloth.
For these outings, Margrethe repeated the electric blue fabric hat with a porkpie style crown and slightly mushroom shaped brim. It’s such a great colour and hat shape on her, don’t you think?

Today the Queen and Prince consort continued their cruise with a visit to Læsø. Margrethe repeated the tartan trimmed straw hat we saw her in last week. Prince Henrik repeated the nautical cap we saw him sporting during the first leg of the summer cruise in Årø and in Orø (yes- those are different places!).

This bright blue hat is one of my favorites. I don’t like all of Queen Margrethe’s hats but this one is very sharp and elegant on her. You also find the most beautiful pictures.
I agree. No wonder she has worn it so much! It is one of her best.
Nice to see a porkpie mentioned! Not heard that term in 40 years.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks, Archie. We’re going to look more at porkpies and a few other traditional hat shapes.
I really like this hat, I love plaids but it’s to much with the skirt. Perhaps a plain navy skirt with a plaid blouse under the jacket with the collar showing(same fabric as hat band) would tone down the to much plaid ensemble. She does look nice though. She always is well dressed and has nice make-up.
I like when hats match what the Queen’s are wearing. These days when girls think polka dots, stripes and plaid all match together it gives me a headache. That blue hat is just so pretty. It matches with her blue suit jacket and looks real nice.
They match!
Queen Margrethe did match her hat to Prince Henrick’s tie and shirt! That is very funny!
