Luxembourg Royal Wedding: The Bride

When Claire Lademacher wore a simple and very modern dress by Dutch designer Jan Taminiau for her civil wedding earlier this week, I suspected she may also choose something simple and modern for her religious wedding dress today. Her wedding dress, designed Elie Saab, was not simple- it was simply breathtaking.

According to premiere royal blog Luxarazzi (the experts on Luxembourg and Liechtenstein royal news and events), “The creme-coloured silk dress is embroidered with floral motifs made out of chantilly lace as well as silver thread. It also features embellishments of clear crystals, sequins and pearls.

The long-sleeved dress is cut a little lower on the back than it is on the front. Echoing the patterns of the dress, the veil made of ivory silk tulle is decorated with neo baroque floral motifs. The train and veil are about three metres long.”

Princess Claire topped her beautiful veil with a floral tiara from the Luxembourg Grand Ducal Collection. I can’t think of a more perfect tiara to top off this delicate and very, very beautiful bridal ensemble.

While the dress is certainly fussier than we’ve seen on many recent royal brides, Claire looked radiantly beautiful and the newlywed couple beamed with happiness

  1. The lace work on this dress and veil is just incredible. Sometimes dresses with a lot of lace overwhelm the bride but this makes her shine. The other girl who married into this family also wore a lace dress similar to this one didn’t she? I think I like this one better.

    • Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie’s dress was by the same designer and I guess they were similar. The lace and style were different enough that the two dresses seem quite different to me. I prefer this one. It’s lighter and I love the pattern on the lace.

  2. STUNNING. I have stared at this dress for much longer than is normal because the detail is so amazing. I think it set a new standard for perfect royal wedding dress.

    • This dress is a work of art that also is very flattering to this young bride. I agree that it will become a well-remembered royal wedding dress. It is on the level of Princess Grace’s dress.

  3. When I saw the first picture of her getting out of the car, I thought “is it Elie Saab?” It’s beautiful and I really love how the blush liner allows the details of the lace to really show up. The veil should be too much but it perfectly complements the dress and the floral tiara was the perfect choice. Gorgeous! (And I’m glad Felix decided to shave :-D)

    • I agree with you Buffy. One would think that the detailed lace veil would be too much with such an intricate lace dress but the overall vision is simply breathtaking. The tiara is absolutely perfect as well. I wish our Brits had some more floral tiaras as they are always so very beautiful.

  4. WOW, what a gorgeous bride, just stunning. She looked amazing and you sure can tell there is love in the air. And the groom is so handsome. Wishing them the very best in life, happy marriage, happy family and lots of children!

    • That was such a nice thing to say about this young couple. I think she is the most pretty royal bride we ever did see and I wish them a happy life filled with blessings too! LOL!

      • Thank you Audrey, she is the most beautiful bride of all. I thought Stephanie’s bridal gown was also wonderful but this one is just amazing. I love the craftsmanship of this gown, the time to create this most of been so time consuming. Being a sewer I love to look at the details of clothing to see how they are made and the workmanship. Being a lace lover, I truly love all type of lace. Just an ole fashioned lady!

        • I agree, Elizabeth. You don’t see workmanship like this in off-the rack clothes. The lace detail really is a work of art. What I like so much about this dress is that Claire is still the one wearing it- the dress isn’t wearing her.

  5. She looks beautiful. The gown is so feminine – just reeks Elie Saab. Her veil is a stunner! Agree it all flows and works so well together!
