Swedish Royals Welcome Portuguese President on State Visit

The Swedish Royal Family welcomed Portugese President Aníbal Cavaco Silva and Mrs. Silva on a three day state visit to Sweden today.  Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel welcomed them at the airport; Princess Victoria repeated the black beret we saw just a few days ago at the opening of Swedish Parliament.

Mrs. Silva wore my favourite hat of the day, a cornflower blue wool pillbox with coordinating net trim. I thought this hat worked very nicely with her haircut and the placement was perfect (neither too far forward nor too far back, as we often see with pillbox hats). Queen Silvia repeated a large bow fascinator in chocolate and tan straw. While I am a fan of the fascinator, I think I prefer Silvia in more traditional hat shapes.

  1. I did not like Victoria’s hat the first time I saw it, but I love it this time! She looks marvelous! I love her hat with this dress. I also like the blue pillbox hat worn by Mrs. Silva. I was not very impressed with Queen Silvia’s fascinator. She should have worn a pillbox too!

    • I totally agree. Princess Victoria’s hat looks so much better with this outfit. Her hairdresser also deserves an award because that hairstyle does not have one hair out of place.

  2. Oh, Princess Victoria looks so wonderful………I love her hat. It’s simple, chic and classy! This is one very beautiful woman who does her country proud. I also love the dress and coat and her hubby looks spiffy also. Great couple!
