As you all will recall, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s hats for the royal wedding in 2011 made them the punchline of jokes ’round the world for many months. This year, however, the adjectives used to describe the millinery of these two young royal ladies were positive and very complimentary. That makes this the next trend on our royal hat countdown…
2013 Royal Hat Trend #4- Beautiful Hats from the York Princesses
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have bounced back from their 2011 hat fame/shame with a series of beautiful hats made by designers including Neraida Fraiman, Rosie Olivia, Stephen Jones, Sarah Cant, Robyn Coles and Karen Henricksen. The smaller scale of these hats (smaller than what the York girls previously wore) adds to their air of elegance while the creative details and styling keep them young, fresh and oozing personality. Well done York Princesses! Please click on the photos below to link back to their original post and photo credit information.

MrFitzroy loves him some Yorkies! Thank you HatQueen for acknowledging their increasing sophistication. They certainly remain dearly quirky, but have been maturing in wonderful increments. Somehow hadnt seen the Trooping of the Colour blue hat on Eugenie, that is great on her! (Perhaps MrFitzroy was distracted in the original post by the Duchess of Cornwall’s “Rings of Saturn” hat and got no further.)
This series of New Years posts is a FANTASTIC way to start 2014!
Both made better choices, but I prefer the hats worn by Princess Beatrice. My favorites are the blue beret with the bow brooch and the burgundy cloche.
After viewing the hats listed by Scout, I can say I love these hats now! That butterfly hat Beatrice wore at her cousin Peter’s wedding was even worse than the hat she wore to the Cambridge wedding in 2011!
I agree. I like Princess Beatrice’s hats better and agree, her hats are looking much better. I guess she couldn’t really do much worse than the silly hat she wore to William and Kate’s wedding.
Yay for the Yorkies!
Sorry I do not like any of the hats shown here on either of the Princesses.
I also don’t like all of these hats but you have to admit, they are MUCH better than what these two wore previously.
