King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands received French President François Hollande at Noordeinde Palace this morning. Queen Máxima repeated the beige beret hat she wore for the 200th anniversary of The Kingdom of the Netherlands in November, perching it on the back of her head with her hair worn loose around her shoulders. It gives the effect of a pillbox hat which works very well with that incredible aqua dress, don’t you think?

I like the sleeve style…but would have chosen a softer, lighter weight fabric fabric which would drape more softly. The darts should end with the same point of contour of her bustline.
Like the hat…she is so pretty, she would look good ing anything..

The hat is perfect on her, I like how it sits on the head and shows off her beautiful face, not the outfit, the color is great, the dress is not, what is wrong with the dress………something is just not right with it. I don’t like the sleeves at all, makes her hips look wider then they are when her arms are down………..don’t like the outfit. The jewelry is great also, love the brooch!

Beautiful dress, gorgeous sleeve design, cool elegant colour but a dreadful fit. The darts are all wrong and I think it needs a slightly thicker lining.
I agree. I have thought since the first time I saw this dress it did not fit property. It is too tight across the bust and the darts land in the wrong spot. When I look at Queen Max in this dress, my eyes just see how ill fitting the dress is.

Maxima knocked it out of the park. I like this hat even better worn this way with her hair down.
The shape of this hat makes it look more modern and that’s what makes it work. Had it been a traditional round pill box hat, it wouldn’t have worked. This is all about the sleeves.
This is a beautiful hat – Maxima looks fantastic. The color contrast with the blue dress/coat is perfect. And the smaller shape/size of the hat works well with the bold, dynamic shape of the dress.
The hat is lovely. Really like it. That dress is not flattering on Maxima. It does not fit her properly. Beautiful color, however.
I agree. It is a particularly bad fit through the chest area. The darts are too high and the dress is so tight across the chest that it flattens the girls.
Agreed. Dress is too tight. Hat is nice and seems to be the color of all the accessories Máx has chosen for the outfit.
Yes, I think this is a very stylish look, reminiscent of the 1950s, with the accessories allowing the dress to do the talking! Usually I’m not a fan of hats with loose hair, but I must say this overall look isn’t too bad.
