Swedish Royals Sparkle at Benefit

Members of the Swedish Royal Family attended a benefit dinner last night for the World Childhood Foundation, which was founded by Queen Silvia. Crown Princess Victoria accessorized her black lace gown with a faux jewelled headpiece. The Swedish royal women often integrate jewels into their evening hairstyles and this oversize piece, worn almost as a fascinator, added much sparkle to Princess Victoria’s ensemble. While I’m not feeling amorous toward fascinators in general these days, I will never turn away a fascinator with diamonds! What do you think of this creative royal headpiece?

    • I agree, a bit farther back would have been more attractive. It’s also interesting to me that it appears to be costume jewelry, rather than diamonds. If I had access to the royal jewel vault, I’d look for every opportunity to wear the real stuff.

  1. Oh dear, not loving this at all, diamonds or not, her hair style is to severe on her, it makes her look older then she is. As for the hairpiece, even if they are diamonds, this does nothing for her. I think a very nice pair of diamond earrings(? are they) and a nice big diamond bracelet is all that is needed. When she pulls her hair back this way, it is really tight and makes her look old. I wish she would just change her hairstyle into something more feminine and soft. Wonder if the hairpiece could be worn as a tiara, now that would be interesting and I think pretty.

  2. Gorgeous – do we think it’s real? The earrings look like they might be bling rather than real (but that might be because I have a hard time conceiving of diamonds that big!).
