Last Monday, Crown Princess Margareta of Romania and her husband Prince Radu marked the 125th anniversary of the establishment of their country’s first news agency with a celebration at Elisabeta Palace. Princess Margareta topped her purple dress with a cream cocktail hat trimmed with flowers, purple and cream feathers and a cream veil. While I like this hat’s purple and cream scheme with Margareta’s dress (she looks marvellous in purple), the embellishment is a classic case of “milliner goes overboard with glue gun”. The angle it is worn here also seems a little off. However, I applaud any royal over the age of 50 who experiments with a fun cocktail hat. What do you think of this perky headpiece?

Royal Hats 
I like the hat and I think it looks great on her! Ok, if it were me I would reduce the featherage a tad, and probably take off the netting, but it looks cute and she looks adorable.
I love her outfit and jewels, and I would love the hat also if it had less feathers on it.
I would like a more important and less frivolous hat with this draped and structured outfit. I am thinking Princess Benedict’s hat (from above) in purple or something similar might work.
I am extremely new to your site that some of these royals are unknown to me, but I love seeing who they are and what they are wearing. To me, Crown Princess Margarita’s hat looks too big for her head although it is a pretty hat.

That hat has more feathers than my pet bird! I really can’t make up my mind on this one. It looks good on her, and I think at another angle, it wouldn’t look as well as it does here. I think she placed it well, and took a lot into consideration. While the angle seems a little extreme, I don’t think it would have looked the same with a more straightforward presentation.
I have always thought she was a very beautiful lady and more so in this color. I love the hat, it sits kind of quirky on her head and makes her looks like she is up to something mischievous and fun. I really do like this on her and hope to see more of her in the future.
Like it but I do agree it seems on at a strange angle, almost like it’s hovering over the side of her head. Much prefer to see hats that look like the person is comfortable wearing them rather than worrying it might fall off!
