Dutch Princess Beatrix officially opened the Christmas market in the Norwegian Church in Rotterdam today. For this event, which is now in its 90th year, Princess Beatrix wore a pale dusty pink straw hat with a pyramid crown and triple rolled bumper brim. While I’m not a fan of this hat’s pointed crown, I love the mix of wool and straw on the rolled brims. I also think the colour is an unusual but rather successful choice to put with a bright pink dress. This whole ensemble pulled me in to take a closer look – at the hat, at the jewelry, at the cape – something I love a royal ensemble to do. What do you think of this pointy pink hat?

I love Princess Beatrix’s outfit but I don’t like the point on the hat or the obvious huge hatpin at the front.
I like the point! It gives more dimension to what otherwise looks like a stack of circles. I think Princess Beatrix looks wonderful, as always.
This time I think the hat appears to be too big.
Lovely person.
I second that. Why do her hats have to be so big that they seem to be perched on her head, almost ready to fall off.
I do love Princess Beatrix a lot. She is so effortlessly chic, and she has always given her best. I love it that she wears makeup, and accessories, but I am over the hats! I know these stiff boxy hats are her thing, but in general I don’t like them. This one looks better because of the pointed crown. If she continues to wear this style, I would like to see it with a higher, rounded crown. That might be an improvement, but also a less boxy look with the brims would be nice. These kind of of boxy hats always remind me of a Breughel painting for some reason.
