It is impossible to remember Queen Fabiola of Belgium without mentioning her life with King Baudouin. From all accounts, theirs was truly a wonderful partnership.

Thanks HatQueen for this lovely tribute to the late Queen Fabiola. Each of her five lost pregnancies must have been horrendous, yet her marriage survived, despite the fact that she and the King must have faced enormous pressure to produce an heir and a spare, and the couple seemed incredibly close and worked very hard for their country. They looked so happy at their wedding. Queen Fabiola was a very beautiful and elegant bride. The Queen really knew how to rock a hat. RIP Your Majesty.
Such sweet photos…and the king looks smitten in each, doesn’t he?
That wedding gown is absolutely beautiful! I don’t recall ever seeing pictures of Fabiola as a bride, but she was lovely.
I agree Melly.
Lovely photos of a couple who clearly loved one another very much. Baudouin was known as The Sad King before he found Fabiola. I had never read the story of how they met before, apparently it was the result of a search by the Belgian church. Well it worked wonders. And more frivolously I think her wedding dress is in my top 5, perhaps even top 2. It’s so stunning.
Lovely photos of two wonderful people who were very much in love. You can see the deep affection and respect they have for one another. In that, they remind me very much of the Current king and queen, the Luxembourgs, and the Dutch royals. Those three reigning couples all look to be very much in love, and make wonderful role models of what a happy marriage looks like.
Such beautiful photos, and they seem very much in love….Thank You for showing these!
