Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Sheikha Mozah have been travelling in France and Croatia over the past two weeks during which time the Sheikha has worn some beautifully chic summer hats. On July 29, the royal couple visited the hospital in Arles, France where the Van Gogh famously stayed in 1888 and 1889. For this visit, Sheikha Mozah wore a natural straw hat trimmed with a cafe au lait hued band and bow around the crown. A coordinating stripe beneath the brim finished the classic picture hat and tied it perfectly to her brown and green floral dress.
In early August, the couple toured an organic farm in Southern France. Sheikha Mozah topped her blue floral dress and navy jacket with a natural straw hat trimmed with a navy bow. The hat’s brim, which was turned up on one side and fell in relaxed waves on the other, is just the kind of chic piece one imagines wearing in the French countryside, I think.
Last Thursday, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Sheikha Mozah arrived in Šibenik, Croatia where they were greeted by Her Excellency Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, president of the Republic. For their arrival, Sheikha Mozah topped her Ulyana Sergeenko couture ensemble with a black silk turban.
On Saturday, the royal couple explored the historic centre of Šibenik, cruised around Visovac Island and toured Krka National Park. Sheikha Mozah wore a straw hat with square crown and cartwheel brim which was edged in an upfolded stripe of cream straw and trimmed with a cream silk band around the base of the crown. The darkened shade of the natural straw was a perfect compliment to the Sheikha and the pairing of the hat with her floral dress was perfect.
The couple concluded their Croatian visit in Rijeka where the Sheikha wore another Ulyana Sergeenko couture dress topped by one of her de rigeur matching turbans. While no one wears a turban better than Sheikha Mozah, I think her straw hats are so wonderfully chic. It’s lovely to see her in hats for a change, isn’t it?

Royal Hats 
It’s nice to see Sheika Moza in something other than turbans and the sharp lines of couture, and these hats are pretty and summery, just right for the Med. I’m not loving her boots in the photo from Arles, they seem a particularly poor choice given the flowing dress and light hat (and later I can see a flash of ankle in a shot so she wasn’t wearing boots all the time). Sheikh Hamad looks nice in his blue blazer, a great colour with the white and perfect for the Med, but I can’t help thinking he’d look even smarter with a decent haircut.
She is stunning. Don’t care for the florals but I suspect it’s a nice change of pace for her – usually I’ve seen her in solids. Normally I would not like a turban but I love how she carries it off. I know she wears them for religious/modesty reasons but at the same time I think – what freedom not to have to do your hair when you wear one!
I think she’s far and away the most chic of the royal ladies, and it’s always a treat to see what she chooses for her public appearances. Most of the royals have wonderful taste, or extremely helpful dressers, but in my opinion she outstrips them while also maintaining her mandated modesty. The wide-brimmed hats are beautiful on her, and I really appreciate the simplicity she seems to have asked for — no masses of feathers or flowers, just the carefully chosen ribbon trim. Supremely elegant.
Every single thing she is wearing is stylish. The hats here are so perfect on her.
I’m not so certain these long, floral-pattern dresses were the best choice for her, but excellent selections with the hats and turbans! She looked amazing in all of them, and continues to stun in her turbans. Sheikha Mozah certainly knows what works for her and how to work it.
Oh Jake, I have to respectfully disagree with you there! I thought the longer flowing outfits suited the Sheikha and indeed the occasion(s). I am particularly fond of the print on the last dress, although all that lace at the back spoils the overall look of the dress for me completely. That second last picture of the Sheikha looking back towards the camera is absolutely classical. Dark glasses, straw hat, flowing dress, belted at the waist, flawless complexion, nice lippy-it’s all there. Re the hats, the first one with the brown trim is my fave, especially because of the brown under the brim. Lovely. Thanks.
Sheikha Mozah also adheres to a strictly modest dress code, which accounts for part of the long/flowing aspect of these outfits. She also has custom silk turbans made for almost all of her couture outfits (turbans I don’t usually cover here on Royal Hats).
I’m not opposed to the length or florals per se (and I understand she must stick to certain standards with her clothing), but with a full-length dress, the florals get to be too much for me, and remind me of some not-so-great 1980s fashions. I liked the floral dress she wore to the organic farm, but that’s because it was broken up with the solid navy jacket.
I want all the brimmed hats! I love these hats and the outfits worn with them. The turban not so much.
And I so agree with your comment, my favorite choice is the hat with the black ribbon that is upturned on the one side and gently curving on the other side………I so want that hat……it is really just gorgeous. The turban, not a fan of those type of hats, remind me of a towel wrapped around the head after a shower which I do every day……no towel for me. She is a beautiful woman that is for sure.

Yes it does apply..about all royals having the money to afford these clothes…some though have more money than others and it is needed to have wardrobes of this calibre. This woman does it so well doesn’t she. Just lovely.
I agree with what Jane says: August 11, 2015 at 12:04 pm. You can’t have what she is wearing exactly if you are poor. However, there are many wealthy people who have appalling taste in clothes and hats.
