King Willem Alexander and Queen Máxima visited the Dutch province of West-Brabant today. Máxima repeated her grey velvet felt picture hat with ‘slice’ brim trimmed simply with a wide band around the base of the crown.

This is the seventh different outfit we have seen paired with this hat and while the colours work harmoniously, I think the ensemble would have worked better with a less voluminous coat. What do you think of Máxima’s hat and ensemble today?

Queen Máxima’s gray slice hat is a good color for her and it has the perfect proportions. I’ll take it! It’s a shame she has teamed it up with what looks like a blanket stitched up to create an impression of a coat, and a huge skirt. I’ll take those earrings too!
This hat shape is one of Queen Máxima’s best ones, and this is one of my favourites in her hat wardrobe. I am not crazy about it being paired with the voluminous coat-cape and skirt. I think it’s most successful outing was being paired with orange.
While it does look as little as though Queen Máxima is wearing a blanket, this fabulous hat makes any outfit sparkle. What surprises me is that she appears, in picture #4, to be wearing low-healed shoes (although by the time she’s walking and photographed on cobblestones, who knows?)
I just love her whateve she wears!
Always a good choice for her in the winter season
She is so beautiful. I like the solid colored hat and cape/coat against the patterned dress.
It is sort of like a coat-cape combo, rather awkward. Otherwise, she looks terrific!
YES!! I’ve been longing for the return of the slice! Since the coat lacks proper sleeves, it seems a bit awkward, but this is my only minor complaint. Glad to see her authentic smile out again, and the last photo is a real stunner; the way the hat frames her face in that one is just amazing.
I’m not keen on the outfit but Queen M really is a wonderful hat wearer. What she does so well is to get her hair right so that the hat looks good and her face can be seen. Her hats are wonderful.
I think I like the hat best with the first three outfits she wore it with. The sequin wedding outfit, the grey dress with big sleeves, and the pin-stripe suit. I really don’t like the grey hat with the camel coat. It is fine with the grey skirts, too. She really is getting her money’s worth out of this hat! 🙂
I agree on the coat. A full-skirted dress, a cape-like coat, AND a big hat…just too much going on.
Yes, a voluminous coat/cape and a voluminous skirt!! Good of you to add this hat to the previous this or that post HQ. I love seeing how these hats are recycled, and of course the value for money aspect is appreciated too. Thanks.
