to seventy-seven years ago today when Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Märtha of Norway were visiting New York. The pair look glamorously carefree- a sentiment that would end just a few months later with the start of WWII.

LOVE her hat!
Indeed, such a glamorous photo, and such awesome hats I would love to add to my collection of vintage hats! I definitely see King Harald in both of his parents.
Such flare…glamour….
A handsome couple.
Beautiful people. Scary times.
Beautiful picture. Beautiful memories. My grandfather, Ole Olson (Glem) had come from Norway, and with his wife, my grandmother, Louise Johnson, who was born in Sweden, settled in Minnesota, where I was born on May 3,1945. Here in this picture, Martha reminds me much of my mother, who wore and loved beautiful hats. And I love hats, and wear and collect vintage hats! The Prince resembles my grandfather. Thank you, Hat Queen, for such a wonderful website for us all to enjoy!
