another hat with upswept brim worn to the races, 78 years ago today. Princess Marina’s placement of this chic design, forward over one eye, fits eerily well with current fashion. I suppose style inevitably travels full circle.

My eye is drawn to the beautiful top hats – tall, with an ever so slight flare at the top. Elegance all around!
Style certainly swings round in a circle. I thought the Duchess of Cambridge’s dress and hat at her sister’s wedding had close similarities to the style of the Queen Mother in the recent posting of a Hat from the Past.
And isn’t Lady Gabriella so like her grandmother!
This has long been one of my favorite photos of the Duke & Duchess.
My word, Princess Marina was an elegant woman. And the Duke was very handsome, as well. I got to meet Prince Michael once, and was struck by the family resemblance. Does anyone else remember Marina at Alexandra’s wedding in her extremely chic gold ensemble? It’s a very stylish family for sure..
It could definitely be an Ascot hat with those amusing pompoms or hanging beads or bobbles. They remind me of those Australian hats with dangles to keep the flies away.
This was one stylish lady from top to toe – ALWAYS looked fabulous! That hat could be worn today and look terrific.
Gorgeous hat.I love those bobbles in the veil, which appears to hang down over her hair at the back and sides.
