Last night, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended the Danish-French Chamber of Commerce gala dinner where they presented the 2017 export awards. Guests at the gala were treated to a pre-dinner horse race and as such, were invited to wear ‘an interesting hat’. To meet this unusual gowns-and-hats dress code, Princess Marie wore a new percher hat with moulded base in apricot coloured straw, trimmed in a mass of peach and white feather and a net tulle back bow.
The scale of this hat is wonderful on petite Princess Marie and the frothy feather trim pairs well with the tiered floral skirt on her dress.

Such unusual dress codes call for a creative approach to dressing and this hat fits the bill. It will be interesting to see how Princess Marie styles it on its next outing. Now over to you, dear readers- what do you think of this peach percher?

This hat with a long dress gown looks off. It should have been a big picture hat or some feathered, flower fascinator.
I agree, there seem to be 2 different looks going on here. The white shell top is what a professional woman would wear under a business suit; the hat is a neat, tidy choice which would also go well with a suit or coat/dress ensemble. I’m not sure how these items ended up with the frilly skirt.
However, the hat is very nice, and suits Marie well.
I’m not a fan of perchers, but this one gets applause from me. I might have preferred to see her in a less structured had that worked better with all the frills on the skirt.
Excellent choice of hat and color for Marie! I do wish there was more of the orange in her outfit, but minor complaint on my part.
This hat looks fantastic on P. Marie. This may be a percher but it sits on her head instead of how some wear them perched at the most odd angles. I love the color both as a match with her skirt and with her dark hair. Very lovely!!
P Marie looks lovely here! I am not a huge fan of perchers, but I like how she has worn this one – not too far down over her brow. I love the apricot base and think that the peach/pink and white feather trim goes so well. Like a mixed flavor sorbet! Light and refreshing! Perfect for the occasion.
She looks delightful! Very fresh and summery. The combination of long dresses and hats is difficult to pull off – as is sometimes evidenced when the Dutch Royals wear this combination – but Marie has a hit here.
She looks lovely and it is a refreshingly light and seasonal look. In the first picture, I almost thought she was the Duchess of Cambridge, but the second picture proved me wrong. The color and scale of the hat are wonderful and do not overwhelm her small frame.
I thought she bore a striking resemblance to her sister-in-law, CP Mary! A very pretty, summery outfit, perched included.
This is a great look for Marie. It’s a fab pairing with her dress and she looks fun and summery.
