to July 26, 1989 and a periwinkle blue bumper hat with back bow worn to a Buckingham Palace garden party. This hat and accompanying frock don’t scream 1980s to me like many other hats worn during this period- do any of you remember seeing it before?

To me, this entire outfit screams Hyacinth Bucket.
I do remember seeing this before. I can’t say that hat thrills me, but I love the colour.
I really do like this, hat — shape and colour. What does seem a little odd ( and it’s a quibble) is whatever it is covering the sleeves of her dress. Sheer chiffon?
Not really a fan of this look. It’s a bit blousy, and I don’t think it compare she favourably to the sharper lines she wears nowadays. I think this looks like one of her 70s outfits, so I find it dated for the time.
Oh this is lovely- I’d love to see it again!
I used to subscribe to Royalty and Majesty through the nineties, and I vaguely remember seeing the hat before. What I Ike about HM’s style is that it is never confined to any particular decade or time. I remember being happy that she didn’t go in for the huge #shoulder pads that were so big then! Most of her outfits could probably still be worn today, and would not look out of place.
