Let’s take a minute to look back at our favourite hats worn last month. In December, there were eleven new royal millinery designs that, based on your comments, stood out as particularly successful. It’s now time to take a closer look at these eleven beauties and choose a single finalist to put forward in our contest for Favourite New Royal Hat of the Year.
Please click on each hat to jump back to its original feature post with additional information, comments and photos. Here are these 11 hats, shown in the order they were worn:

The poll will remain open until next Wednesday, January 10 at midnight GMT and and each computer or mobile device can vote twice per day for as many hats as you wish – DO NOT feel pressured to vote for just one hat! Happy voting!

As I was browsing the internet this morning, I discovered the Duchess of Cambridge has the same style hat as Autumn Phillips’ red one – sans picks, in a plain navy fabric. I was on several sites, but I think it was Jane Taylor?
I think you’re referring to this one- it was made by Rachel Trevor Morgan

They really were designed by different people? They certainly do look remarkably similar!
Yes, although both are companies specialising in alpaca hats.
I just found out that I love velvet hats–all of them!
Has to be the Queen in the stunning burnt orange, with Queen Silvia’s elegant silver blue fascinator.
Which reminds me — HatQueen, will you be adding this new orange hat to the orange inventory? There are so few in that color range that it would be a shame to miss it! I know that some readers did not think HM looks good in this color, but I still think it’s awesome!
Just added it and cleaned up the orange inventory- you can see it here.
Thanks for the heads-up, HatQueen! One in and one out — funny how lighting can make some colors appear to be completely different colors in photography.
Thanks for the reminder! And yes- lighting can change things dramatically. There are still some hats in other wardrobes where it’s not clear if they are navy or black!
My, this was a good month for new hats. So glad I get to vote more than once. My first choice was for Princess Mako since we don’t often get to recognize such successful Japanese hats.
Sometimes, it’s impossible to choose just one hat! And how great it is that some Imperial royal hats have made it through to these favourites polls this year!
