Hat From the Past

Royal Hats sixty-years ago this month to a white fez style hat with button trim worn by Grace Kelly to her wedding rehearsal at Monaco Cathedral. The combination of tailored suit, prim hat and sunglasses is rather chic, is it not?

  1. Ah, a perfect example of simple, classic suit worn with a not-too-fussy hat and Grace’s ever-present white gloves.

  2. Gorgeous Grace Kelly could put a paper bag on her head and still look chic 😊 Very first record I ever bought – was her and Bing Crosby singing “True Love” … now that ages me doesn’t it ? To me her dying was as bad as Princess Diana …this hat was more than chic at the time but I really loved her picture hats she wore them wiith such flair !

  3. I saw enldless pictures of Princess Grace when I was growing up, and I always thought she was so elegant and beautiful. That outfit she is wearing in the picture would not look out of place today. I especially loved her hats. She wore a lot of hats like this and picture hats. She and Audrey Hepburn were my style icons.

  4. I’m sorry, but the date mentioned is incorrect. Grace and Rainier were married on April 19, 1956. The rehearsal therefore couldn’t take place April 30th…after the wedding:)

    • Good call- often when photos are undated, they often default to the first or last of the month. I should have caught this- it certainly would have been mid April, in the days before the wedding. Correction made!

      • This princess is absolutely one of most beautiful women we have been “graced” with, and I don’t think this hat does her justice.
She is even more attractive hat-less many times, with her lovely hair, The picture below is Grace Kelly at the age of 26,
