to this day, 30 years ago, when Princess Diana donned a vibrant blue silk Catherine Walker suit and matching wide-brimmed hat with shallow crown for the wedding of friends Camilla Dunne to the Honourable Rupert Soames at Hereford Cathedral. The sharp finishing around the crown sets this hat apart and shows the sleeker millinery style she adopted during the later 1980s (I suspect this one is from Philip Somerville)

I love the way the button on the hat continues and completes the diagonal line of black buttons on the coat. The perfect finishing touch.
I think she looks fabulous !! 😊😊😊
I remember this so well. This was the good end of the eighties, a very elegant and polished look. Still wouldn’t be out of place in Joan Collins though!!
Wonderful outfit…well done.
Lovely hat but I’m somewhat confused as to color! Some pics look blue and others look turquoise. One picture shows the side of the hat and appears that the it is held on via a turban which makes practical sense due to the shallow crown. Am I mistaken?
Looks like a deep pudding basin crown with brim set askew to me. Nice hat, but don’t care for the black and blue suit.
She had a different blue hat with a turban underneath. Perhaps you are remembering that one.
I believe that this is the one you may be thinking of, worn in Dubai in March of 1989:

I don’t know how to post a photo here, but I this is a link to the view I think you’re talking about.

Oh I love this hat! I’m actually not usually a fan of Diana’s millinery, largely because I don’t care for the proportions of most 80s hats, but this is so striking. She looks phenomenal.
Great hat! She had the most superb eye for flair and taste, and brought out the best in every single one of her hat and dress designers.
Beautiful colour, beautiful shape! So elegant…
