On Friday, members of the Imperial royal family were spotted arriving to rehearse the enthronement ceremony. Empress Masako wore a buff silk bumper hat; the Mikasa princesses were in hats as well.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge donned vibrant regional headwear on Wednesday during a visit to to the Bumburate Valley in Pakistan’s northern Chitral District
Yesterday, the remains of Queen Elena of Romania were brought from Switzerland and re-interred in Romania. For this ceremony, her granddaughters wore black and grey hats- Her Majesty Margareta in a grey angular bandeau with black trim, Princess Sophia in a black cuffed bumper and Princess Marie in a black calot.

The Danish monarchy released two new photos of Prince Christian to celebrate his 14th birthday
Lovely to see Sayako Kuroda at last week’s “Kanname-sai” festival at Ise Grand Shrine. I suspect we’ll see her at her brother’s enthronement ceremony tomorrow.
For a little over-the-top royal entertainment, we have the Bourbon Two Sicilies princesses sharing themselves making an entrance.
We end this week with a great montage shared by Kensington Palace of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s visit to Pakistan last week. The documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey airs in North America Wednesday night (and is, for the moment, available here). It’s authenticity and candid sharing is compelling.

Royal Hats 
I discovered something that may be of interest to some of us in this hat loving group, even though there was no royal hat in sight. Today, HM wore a very bold floral print dress, until now hidden by a beautiful pink Stewart Parvin coat and matching hat. Pink and black make a very nice (if loud) combination. Certainly not a mourning black which we hope to see in a couple weeks. Hat Queen, I hope you don’t mind this entry being a little off-course, but sometimes clothing is discussed also, like the wedding post from Saturday.

Oh, and The Crown Season 3 official trailer came out today, and the Silver Jubilee hat (https://royalhats.net/2016/08/05/righting-a-wrong-queen-elizabeths-silver-jubilee-hat/) features prominently!
That feels like a great appointment. The previous collaboration between Lock & Co. and Prudence Millinery never felt like a good fit to me.

Fairbanks, the queen’s hat on Sunday was actually premiered on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, with a plain, pale blue coat. I prefer the original combination, since a tweed coat and straw hat don’t coordinate as well, IMO. BTW, the hat you posted resembles a cake of some sort, doesn’t it? Speaking of cakes, please see below.

You’re absolutely right, of course: Sunday’s hat is the one you’ve shown above. I know this hat (and entire outfit) but didn’t think of existing hats while I was trying to figure out what coat the Queen was wearing Sunday. I wonder how the dressers thought of this hat. It always makes me wonder about the storage system. Are coats, dresses and hats stored together or by color — of what, coat, hat, dress? Of course, there probably a lot of other light blue hats that would go too, but this is a particularly pretty hat.

Looks as though the Cambridges were excellent goodwill ambassadors in Pakistan. Prince Christian is getting to be a handsome young man. Oh, the Bourbon Two Sicilies…I hope they mean to be ironic, but I somehow don’t think so.
We rarely see stitching used as on the Nicki Marquardt fedora — what a great detail. Splendid drama in the veil of the Jill Humphries bandeau. She really sells her checked turban with that styling tip, too! But I think the burgundy velvet bandeau looks the most royal of the new designs.
