And a better view of this hat, shared coincidentally today by Kensington Palace:
What a fantastic coincidence!
HA! This is the exact photo that I remember seeing. I spent a sinful amount of time yesterday, fruitlessly searching for it!
And now we know that it is bright green, from the 1967 Christmas video, when HM wore a HUGE pompom hat with the same fur collared coat. BTW, the Christmas hat is not in the pompom post from September, possibly because no photo actually exists? Oh, for a color photo of either hat!
I found a video of HM stepping out of St. George’s Chapel on Christmas morning in 1967, wearing a magnificent green coat and black belt, and a more “suit”able hat than the playing card “suits.” What a Royal Flush! If we hold our cards right, I’ll bet we’ll see the Christmas hat in an upcoming post highlighting all of the Queen’s Yuletide hats. Start the video at 1:00.
Is that a deck of cards on her hat? Just fabulous!! I would love to see this in color. Great find HQ!
This is one for the Most Unique Trims list! Do you think they’re red and black?
This hat is amazing. I think I’ve seen it before but it is definitely up there a one of HM’s most fun (or crazy?) hats. I kinda love it, it’s certainly festive!
