King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia kicked off a visit to India yesterday.
For the first day of this visit, Queen Silvia wore a new, leaf-shaped royal blue headpiece trimmed with lovely handmade flowers with beaded stamen centers.
The colour is ace on Silvia and the headpiece’s smooth surface contrasts nicely with her lace dress. The flowers are also a fantastic touch. I’m less certain about the shape and placement- it works well with Queen Silvia’s hairstyle from front view but less so from the side. It’s nice to see her experiment with the more traditional calot shape she often wears but I’m just not sure this shape is a great one.

we don’t often see a hat worn on the left side, it looks good on her, love the color
Beautiful hat. I do feel it competes with the voluminous hair a bit. Maybe the placement could be better, as others have noted.
Lovely colour and the close up of the hat shows how pretty it is. But … all I can see is air hostess!
Gorgeous color and lovely design for a beautiful queen, but terrible placement. It’s highly unusual for Silvia to get a hat wrong, but this one definitely could’ve been worn better (although I fear we wouldn’t have been able to see it from the front if it had been worn as a traditional calot).
P.S. I really like the karakul hat and outfit worn by the man accompanying them to the Jama Masjid mosque.
