Hat From the Past

Royal Hats to Easter Sunday April 9, 1939 enjoyed in San Francisco by Crown Prince Frederick and Crown Princess Ingrid of Denmark, as were their titles at the time. I find it fascinating how Princess Ingrid’s hat is so similar to the ‘slice’ brims we often see now and how the unfinished, rough edge makes it feel modern enough to be easily worn today.

Happy Easter!

  1. Dear Royal Hatters, This morning I put on my bright florals, my purple shoes, and as a finishing touch, my gigantic mauve Madagascar Hat a la Princess Caroline of Monaco. Put on a hat and spread some physically distant cheer!

  2. Elegant couple! It’s so true that the hat could be worn today. But I’m so intrigued by the coast — is it really two-toned, or is Ingrid just partly shadowed?
