Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary took part in Flag Day ceremonies in Copenhagen on Saturday, remembering members of Danish forces who have lost their lives in service to their country.
For this commemoration, Crown Prince Frederik was predictably attired in military uniform with cap. Crown Princess Mary repeated her black felt calot trimmed with black felt and feather leaves on the side and a black net birdcage veil.

Paired with her gorgeous blue coat, the black hat lends that slight bit of gravitas to the ensemble that so fits a memorial event such as this one.

Every royal hat we see this year is one to be thankful for- what do you think of Crown Princess Mary’s black hat on Saturday?

She is beautiful in everything she wears. Love the Danish royal.
The hat is good but what blows me away is that coat. It’s gorgeous!
The veiling gives this hat a nice bit of gravitas appropriate for this event, and overall I really like this whole ensemble; as the veiling isn’t formed/shaped, I would’ve chosen a slightly more coiffed hairstyle (chignon probably) to balance that out, but that’s ultimately inconsequential.
Jake, I agree that I would have preferred a hairstyle with a low back bun or twist instead of what Mary wore. It’s a good hat and veil and Mary looked most appropriate for the event.
Solid look very appropriate
