On Saturday, February 6, Princess Marie of Denmark celebrated her 45th birthday. To mark this milestone, let’s take a closer look at all of the pale pink designs in her millinery closet. Here they are in order of introduction:
1. 2.
3.
Designer: all are unknown
Introduced: March 18, 2014; April 1, 2017; June 15, 2019
Princess Marie wears a hat or headpiece just a few times each year so it’s no surprise this collection is small. As far as fascinators go, the first two headpieces are good ones with lovely detail and scale; hat #3 is a charming design (adore the jaunty angle) that I look forward to seeing again.
What stands out to you about Princess Marie’s pale pink hat and headpieces?

Hat #3 is a great hat and Princess Marie looked beautiful that day. Her entire ensemble was perfect.
That first headpiece is just lovely.
The two headpieces are OK, but I’ll always prefer a real hat, even when it immediately reminds me of Joan Hickson’s Miss Jane Marple, only better. And I don’t mean that comment in a derogatory manner. I actually like the style. What’s it called, a mushroom boater?

Jimbo, in French you’d call it a “capeline niçoise”. Or at least a “niçoise” style hat, for the real capeline niçoise has a smaller crown and a larger brim. (Straw sun hat, part of the traditional costume of the women of Nice.)
I can never work up too much excitement for a fascinator I’m afraid, but that natty hat at its jaunty angle is a winner. It’s quite a flirty look for Marie who usually plays it quite safe. I like.
These are all so pretty, but #3 is a great hat that looks fabulous on her. I’m with you Hat Queen on hoping she wears it again.
