to this day in 1984 that saw a fresh-faced Princess Anne watching an Independence Day parade in Banjul, Gambia in a cream straw brimmed picture hat with floral silk covered crown and hatband. Charming, isn’t it?!

I think it is very pretty and I don’t think it is too matchy matchy either. My only complaint would be that it doesn’t seem to fit her practical personality!
Some might dismiss this as matchy, but the scattered print is minimal enough that it looks nicely coordinated to my eye. Pretty!
It is nice. Does make you realise looking back at pics of Anne from the 80s that she did get a bad rap being compared with Diana. She may not have always kept up with latest fashions (though she did often dip a toe in…) but by and large she looked pretty good. There was of course the odd outfit lingering from the 70s though (which in the 80s was a cardinal sin).
