This Week’s Extras

Last weekend, Princess Hisako wore a caramel trilby to present the Japanese Women’s Football Championship.

On Thursday, an exhibition about the Danish royal yacht Dannebrog was attended by Crown Prince Frederik, Count Ingolf and Countess Sussie, who wore a chocolate hued hat with fur trim.

Yesterday, Princess Maria Laura of Belgium wore a burgundy braided headpiece to the wedding of Princess Anne-Hélène d’Arenberg to Xavier Rehman-Fawcett. See a gallery of this event over at Point de Vue.

Remembering the incredible straw hats of American milliner Ignatius Creegan who passed away last year. For new millinery designs caught my eye this week, scroll through the comments.

Lovely three generation portrait released by the House of Orange for Princess Beatrix’s 85th birthday

Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies celebrated her birthday with a new portrait and a very pretty new tiara.

  1. Glad to learn about Ignatius Creegan. What inventive (if not especially wearable) designs!

Beautiful multi-generational portrait of the Dutch royal family.

Great new designs! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cut-out detail as in the pink boater. The Manila shawl embroidery on the bandeau is stunning, and so is the braiding on the blue and violet cloche. And the plum formed beret with the bow detail is a knockout.

  2. Very unusual hats this week. I laughed-out-loud at the coffee cup hat, (the freckled model is cute as a button) and actually really like the last hat – bubblegum pink with the heart.
