King Willem Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Amalia continued their tour of the Caribbean yesterday, arriving on the island of St. Maarten. For their arrival, Queen Máxima repeated a blush silk floral bandeau headpiece.
These face framing headpieces work so well on royal tours (especially ones in tropical climates), elevating the overall ensemble without obstructing view of the esteemed royal guest. I know many of you prefer headpieces that contrast with the wearer’s hair colour but sometimes, a more subtle statement is needed. I’m here for both!

I think the headband helped keep her hair in place and wish Amalia had worn a headband, also. I don’t like the cropped pants at all. From the. waist up all is better.
While Máxima has always worn this bandeau with all-beige outfits, recent outings have proved successful despite my complaints (usually about color haha). This time though I don’t think the outfit worked with the bandeau, specifically the cropped wide trousers.
With due respect, the Queen looks tired, maybe feeling under the weather. Perhaps a makeover might be part of the answer. New hairdo and change of hat style.
I can’t imagine how grueling foreign royal tours are. As for hairstyles… the Caribbean is very windy!
…and very humid which I found particularly gruelling when I worked in Grand Cayman.
Great point, Christopher. It’s impossible to keep a hairstyle looking fresh in such conditions.
I suppose these are worth inclusion as well!
