Dutch Queen Launches Internship Program

Queen Máxima lended her support to a management intership program yesterday, attending the launch of Amsterdams Stagepact MBO at Capital C in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She repeated a midnight blue felt fedora.

I’ve said before, in theory, a monochrome fedora is a wonderfully chic pairing for this dress but the awkwardly curved brim on this one makes it a miss for me.

  1. Definitely my favorite outfit for this hat, and Patrick van Katwijk got some gorgeous shots this time! I do agree the details on this fedora could be more refined, which I think would help make its pairing with this dress even better, but overall I’m on board with this.

  2. The dress is fabulous, and being a tall lady, she carries it off very well. While I love the simplicity and perfect color of the hat- it does not compete with the dress- in its own way it does complete with the dress in terms of style. It has a country vibe and looks a bit like it was plopped on at the last minute while going out the door (something we’ve all done!). Queen Maxima always comes off as a lady on a mission (somewhat like Princess Anne), perhaps more attention given to the dress and her jewelry. She often repeats hats (nothing wrong with that!), but unfortunately the hat, rather than being the crowning touch can often look a bit haphazard- sometimes it makes it makes it, sometimes it doesn’t, but I often get the feeling that it is by chance rather than by design.

  3. wonderful colour…be nice if her hair was pinned up..lots of wind maybe. So nice to see these pictures after an absence. Thank you.

  4. This beautiful navy fedora seems too heavy and wintery for April. The best outing was November 2019, and the least successful wearing was perhaps its first time out, when it was paired with a sleeveless dress. A coat or jacket would have balanced the look, IMO.

  5. The floppy brim doesn’t seem so bad to me, but the dress is not casual enough. The least favorite outing was its first! Without a jacket or coat, the combo of heavy felt and a sleeveless dress looks a miss. The best pairing IMO was November of 2021.

  6. Hello! I love Maxima. I love this color. I love this dress. I do not love this hat. The crown is so tall, the brim so wide and floppy that it hides and overwhelms her. In one picture above, it seems like she’s peering out from underneath the massive brim. Something smaller would have given her more ability to see the crowd and them more opportunities to see her.

  7. Maxima loves to pair these felt fedoras with ultra feminine formal dresses, and I’m just not sure about the combo. I don’t mind the floppy brim, it has a relaxed informality to it, but styled with a winter coat, or tweed (as she’s done before), it’s a good match. With this, just not sure.

Fab dress, and great to see a hat being worn for a more regular engagement – even Máx, our champion titfer sporter has been wearing way fewer lately.
