  1. Always lovely to see Beatrix and one of her “cake” hats again.

I’m usually not a fan of all-beige/cream ensembles, especially on someone who is blonde like Máxima, but the styling is so good this time that I am won over! This 1950s retro glam ensemble is absolutely wonderful, and the beret is so lovingly jaunty here. My only hesitancy is the zig-zag stitched pattern of the beret competes a bit with the pattern of the dress’s fabric when viewed up close, but other than that, this is a big brava from me!

  2. Lovely mix of textures from Máx and a really flattering silhouette. She really is out champion hat wearer amongst the current crop of Queens.

  3. I am so happy to see you back posting. I had sadly about given up that you were returning. Then today I just checked my bookmark as I have been periodically and 4new posts!

hope things are ok with you and just so glad to read about all the hats again!

  4. Hi. Normally I would like an all beige ensemble would be kind of blergh, but I really love this. The raw silk of the coat dress has a beautiful texture and glow, and I love the hat. It pairs well, and I appreciate the texture of it too. The fabrics’ textures elevate the outfit from what could have been blah, giving it more visual interest. I really appreciate her hair being in a neater style with it as well. Love!

    • Great point- it’s the contrasting textures that work so well with Max’s overall look, saving it from being “a whole lot of biscuit”!!! We see her in lots of saturated colour, this is an elegant counterpoint.

  5. Much as I love Max in a big hat, this looks great on her, and is very well-suited to her outfit. Princess Bea is her usual, wonderful self. What I really, really want is to learn more about that feather headdress on the lady in orange!
