Cheltenham Festival 2019: Day 1

Damp skies did not seem to dampen spirits at opening day of the Cheltenham Festival today. Princess Anne attended in her repeated brown faux fur ruched hat with rolled brim, no doubt a warm choice on a blustery, rainy day.

Zara Tindall wore a yale blue felt formed teardrop percher, trimmed with a stitched bow and arrow trimmed feathers. Blue is such a fantastic colour for her and this deeper shade is no exception. I’m less keen on the pairing of this hat with Zara’s navy coat- from close view, the hat does pick up similar threads in the coat’s weave but from far away, the look is less cohesive.

Mike Tindall repeated the navy coogan cap we saw him wear to this event last year. We see so few men in hats, it’s great to see one like this that not only combats dismal weather, but makes its wearer look rather dapper in the process.

Queen Elizabeth wore a new teal blue hat to church last Sunday. Frustratingly, there are no pictures I can share but you can see it here. Today, she made a surprise appearance at the Aboyne Highland Games in her lilac straw hat with flowers by Rachel Trevor Morgan.

Princess Elena’s predictable ‘wear fedora to bullfight’ routine was stirred up this week with a chocolate version paired with jazzy hot pink tassel earrings. The charming photo of her children (with Froilan in a baseball cap) was taken today at the 36th Copa Del Rey Mafre Sailing Cup in Palma de Mallorca

I’m reluctant to provide another platform for complaints but as Prince Henrik’s rather unsavory announcement made international headlines this week, it deserves acknowledgement, however petty and ungracious it is (New York Times)

Royal Ascot 2017 Day 3: The Tindalls

Royal Ascot | Royal Hats Mike and Zara Tindall made their second appearance at Ascot this week today for Ladies’ Day races. Zara wore a pink straw percher cocktail hat with angular teardrop shaped base, trimmed with straw ruffles, a pink silk rose and a curling feather quill.

Royal Ascot 2017 Day 1: Phillipses & Tindalls

Royal Ascot | Royal Hats Peter and Autumn Philips and Mike and Zara Tindall were all in attendance for the first day of Royal Ascot today. Autumn wore a cream button percher with lace overlay, trimmed with cream silk roses flowers and curled ostrich quills. The designer notes that “the style is wired on the underside to sit elegantly high on the right hand side of the head.”
