Emperor Shōwa (Hirohito) of Japan and Empress Kōjun (Nagako) made a state visit to Britain from October 5-8, 1971. To greet them at Victoria Station, Queen Elizabeth wore a peach hat with tall, rounded crown and wide, rolling brim.

Platinum Jubilee Countdown: 49

On May 19, 1969, Queen Elizabeth departed for a visit to Scotland in a  ruched bubblegum pink turban. She had worn the same hat and tweed coat two years earlier for a May 13, 1967 visit to Rugby you can see in this set of Getty Images.

On June 17, 1966, Queen Elizabeth wore this striking red ruched pillbox with front bow visor to attend the second test of the Wisden Trophy at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

In 1963, Queen Elizabeth wore this turban edged in spiky silk leaves on multiple occasions- in Sydney and Canberra during the March Australian visit, to open New Zealand House in London on May 9, and  at Goodwood racecourse on on the 2nd of August.
