Queen Elizabeth In East Sussex

Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh visited East Sussex today where they toured a fish market, a brewery, a youth hostel, and a reading room. The Queen repeated her magenta and black split crown hat with black button trim. I still find this hat a little too Alice-In-Wonderland-Mad-Hatter for me to really like although I did enjoy these photos, which offer a more closeup view of this hat than we’ve seen before. What do you think?

Querry: Royal Millinery Closet of Choice

The Royal Hats Blog Reader Del posed this delightful question, “If you could get into any royal hat closet and be allowed to wear the hats in that close for the rest of your life whenever you wanted, whose closet would you choose?”

Marvelous question! I’m turning this over to you, dear readers. Indeed- in whose hat closet would you like to have an open invitation? And why?

Swedish Royals Welcome New Family Member

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden visited Kolmårdens zoo this morning to see brand new elephant calf, Namsai (the calf’s mother, an elephant named Bua, was a gift to the Swedish royals from Thai King Bhumibol in 2004). Carl Gustaf was casually dressed in jeans and a fedora… although who really notices a hat when there’s a baby elephant in the house?!

The Queen and Duchess of Cornwall Visit Riding Centre

Queen Elizabeth and the Duchess of Cornwall visited the successful and inspirational inner-city Ebony Horse Club & Community Riding Centre in Brixton together this morning. The queen repeated her beautiful watermelon pink rose hat (last seen in Aberdeen earlier this month). I have always liked this hat and after seeing these photos today, which show how beautifully the rose on this hat is constructed, I like it even more. The only thing not to be liked about today’s visit? Camilla’s lack of a hat. I suppose not every day is a hat day but I was surprised to see her without one.
