Queen Sonja repeated her black beret for this event. The brimless design follows an interesting pyramid shape and is rimmed with black sequins that give it much sparkle and dimension. We’ve seen it a few times before… so alas, there’s not much new to add.

Crown Princess Mette Marit repeated her chunky gold bandeau headpiece. While she has often worn it woven with a contrasting ribbon in the past, this time the headpiece stood on its own.

This event is one of a few annual hatted events for the Norwegian Royals and, as such, I’m a little disappointed there weren’t any new hats yesterday. Any new thoughts about these designs?

Considering that Mette-Marit is very ill the fact that she has lost weight and her clothes fit better is not a positive thing. I hope we can refrain from these kind of comments in the future.
I’m sorry if I came across too harsh. I have a relative who is currently undergoing chemotherapy and compliments on her loss of weight from people who don’t know are definitely not a positive thing for her.
You weren’t too harsh. Comments about weight, no matter how subtle, are off limits. As such, the comment in question has been deleted.
While the hats were disappointing, I’m thrilled that the Crown Princess was well enough to attend both events in the day. At this point I’ve given up on hats for her and just hope she is healthy and able to attend.
as expected we can pretty much predict the hats for the 2020 Nobel award
On this dull millinery day, we could use a good ol’ Flashback to sink our teeth into, or even a “Caption This . . .”
My only comment is that I like MM headband thingy better without the ribbon. Otherwise a pretty disappointing event hat wise. Though of course they all look lovely.
After so many repeats of the same hats at this event over the years, I’m not surprised we didn’t see anything new. To be honest, I’m actually surprised we still get to see hats at this event considering only Sonja and (usually) Mette-Marit wear them and no one else does. I guess this week the hats are just not doing it for me! (Sorry if the negativity has been a bit much!)
Disappointing indeed! Since M-M apparently can’t wear hats any more, she might embrace the bandeau trend.
I like M-M’s bandeau worn without a ribbon a lot more than on previous outings. It works extremely well with her coloring and that cream coat (not sure about those elbow knots).
