Wonderful hats this week. I especially like th3 Maxim hats. I love cloche style hats and the one that was remade from the Grandmother’s hat was particularly beautiful with the flowers. There were many hats I saw I would be delighted to find under or on my Christmas tree this year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my fellow hat lovers.
Queen Beatrice’s hat is so very much her style – and so gorgeous!

I initially read the first item as “Zany,” which would certainly be big news in the world of Japanese royal fashions!
It’s always good to see Princess Beatrix, and plum Is a lovely color for her.
The floral trim on the Ann Gilder is beautiful! Hoping that the Maxim hats catch the eye of the Japanese royals. I know their hats are usually covered in silk and carefully matched to their ensembles, but the felt would work for less formal occasions. Love the fabric more than the shape of the Philip Treacy — what do you think, Shanon, maybe Zara? Great story and result on the re-made vintage hat by Lifted Millinery. And, of course, a stunning boater from Wies!
Lovely Christmas greetings, especially the video from CP Victoria and family, Oscar looks very proud of be contributing sound effects.
– I love the Ann Gilder blue felt boater as well mittenmary! I always default to Princess Beatrice for a boater because she looks so good in them, but maybe Autumn Phillips for this one?
– I agree mittenmary about hoping the felt hats by Maxim catching the eye of the Japanese royals. I think the hats are so beautiful and I can see Princess Hisako and Princesses Mako and Kao in many of them.
– I love the color of the Siana Yewdall raspberry felt rounded beret percher. Lovely for the Duchess of Cambridge.
– absolutely love the pale coral straw picture hat with windowpane straw cartwheel brim from The Essential Hat. The style is similar to one we’ve seen on the Duchess of Sussex, so I would love to see this on her, especially at Ascot.
– mittenmary, I do love the fabric on the Philip Treacy. I saw it and immediately thought Zara Tindall as well! It’s a pretty funky hat!
– Love the dotted net veil on the ecru boater by Wies Mauduit. Lady Kitty Spencer would look dynamite in this.
– I can see Princess CHarlene in the midnight blue felt hat with off-center peaked crown and wide hatband from Jolanta Kotabova. Great color and style!
It’s true, Beatrice rocks boaters. I don’t remember Autumn wearing one, but she should! This design would be great for her. Wies Maudit’s made me think of the Duchess of Gloucester. She has worn boaters well, and the elegant neutrals make it versatile for someone who repeats hats so well. And your thought about the Jolanta Kotabova for Princess Charlene is excellent!
YES to the Duchess of Gloucester in Wies’ design! Great pick! I would also suggest Zenouska Mowatt or Flora Ogilvy. I think the boater/veil combo would look great on either.
Interestingly, Maxim has already made several Imperial Royal hats- ones for Empress Masako at the beginning of her royal life and, I suspect, others.
Good to know!
