Hats From the Past

Royal Hats to early 1967 and this lovely photo, shared this week by Pieter Van Vollenhoven to celebrate his and Princess Margriet’s 54th wedding anniversary. Taken in the days before their January 19, 1967 wedding, this shot captures a most memorable floral pillbox on the Dutch princess.

  1. My Aunt and my Mother worked in “The Hat Hospital” somewhere in Kensington, London. It was quite near the palace. They made and mended hats for members of the Royal Family. Does anyone remember it. There is no trace on the internet. This was in the 1950’s.

  2. They are so cute! I love seeing Princess Magriet out and about (she and Princess Benedikte and Princess Anne are my re-defined princesses), but I’ve never seen a picture of her as a young woman. This one is so lovely!
