Danish Flag Day

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary Crown attended a service at Holmen’s Church and ceremonies at military headquarters Kastellet in Copenhagen and Christiansborg Palace Square on Sunday to mark Flag Day.

For this event, Princess Mary repeated her black straw picture hat with pleated brim ruffle on one side, returning the spray of cream and ecru straw leaves studded with feathers that adorned this hat on its first outing.

This hat remains an elegant shape and scare for Mary and paired especially well with her printed black and cream dress.

  1. Very very elegant. Mary shows time and time again why she is one of our most fabulously dressed royals; a classic style but never dull. Love it.

  2. I have always loved the way Mary varies her hats by changing out the embellishments, and this is another fine example! I wonder if in addition to posts showing “one hat, multiple outfits”, we should now have posts showing “one embellishment, multiple hats” and decide which we like best, though I think they would almost all be Crown Princess Mary’s.

  3. Great to see this hat back in action and I definitely prefer it with this trim attached; it’s always been a dramatically flattering hat for Mary! While I understand the need of this black coat for the occasion, it does diminish the effect of the dress with its collar flattened and hidden, so I personally would’ve chosen another dress to wear, but that’s a small complaint.
